FEMI KUTI Set To Perform @ Headies Award 2012

FEMI KUTI

Nigeria’s afrobeats legend and three times grammy award nominee is set to perform at this year’s edition of Headies awards. Femi Kuti has also bin nominated under the Headies Hall of Fame. In an interview after his nomination, it’s a kind of privilege, its good. I mean I would drink a bottle of champagne when I get it, we will celebrate here the Afrobeat legend said on his nomination.

The event which holds at the Eco hotel and suites on the 20th of October 2012 is promising to be the best award ceremony in recent times after the executive producer of the headies stated that, Every year, our target is to surpass our very best efforts. With notable artistes such as Femi Kuti and many more gracing The Headies this year, our fans should expect to watch the most exciting awards ceremony to be held in recent times.

Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti the eldest son of the afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti would be joing other hall of fame inductees like , Kenny Ogungbe, Phillip Trimmel, Olisa Adibua Dayo D1 Adeneye, Obi Asika, Sir Shina Peters, DJ Jimmy Jatt  and Femi Akintunde Johnson.

Femi has contributed a remake of his father’s classic song, “Water No Get Enemy”, to Red Hot & Riot, a compilation CD in tribute to Fela Kuti that was released by the Red Hot Organization and MCA. Like his father, Femi has shown a strong commitment to social and political causes throughout his career. His track was created in collaboration with hip hop and R&B artists, D’Angelo, Macy Gray, The Soultronics, Nile Rodgers, and Roy Hargrove, and all proceeds from the CD were donated to charities dedicated to raising AIDS awareness or fighting the disease.
